CABIN 1 photo (4)

View of log cabin from the river

With Labor Day quickly approaching it seems like summer just started. And it is “back to school” time already? Really? When I was a child, school started after Labor Day. Feeling a little bit nostalgic, I am sharing a photo of where I spent my summers as a child, skipping rocks in the river, gathering pine cones, building forts of grass and sticks, digging for worms on the riverbank to hang on a hook with hopes of attracting a trout swimming by it. With so many great memories with family and friends at our cabin, I am fortunate to say that this place is still in the family, three generations later, and still enjoying time here with family and friends.

Fishing time

Fishing time

I have recently  initialized my first website! This is very exciting  as I am gearing up for Fall, which is just around the corner. In between enjoying a lovely summer with friends and family, I have been studying with a computer trainer, Ken, who is leading me through some personal and professional technical advancement. Kind of like going to summer school.

I am sharing one of my favorite summer places, the river in front of my cabin on forest service property that my grandfather built in the 1930’s. Today I share it along with my two brothers and their families. A very peaceful place situated on the Upper Truckee River near South Lake Tahoe. Nice walks, hikes, fishing or just sitting on the porch and reading. Just returned from another visit.

At the Arches, Utah

At the Arches, Utah

I came across this lovely pile of red rocks at the Arches National Park during my sojourn to Southern Utah this past Spring.  Could be an indicator of a “vortex”, or perhaps someone made a natural rock sculpture. Either way, all rock formations in this part of Utah – Red Rock Country – are interesting and pleasing to look at. With so much history and beauty, one can spend days exploring or just sitting and soaking in the view(s).  The Arches National Park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks.  The park is 236 miles  south of Salt Lake City and not far from Moab. We stopped here on our way to Bluff which is about two hours south of the Arches. If you plan on going, best weather is Spring or Fall. You can visit http://www.nps.gov for more information.

Enjoy!
